Abbas’ spokesman denies US statement on the Western Wall being part of Israel in a future peace process

Headline: “In response to a senior American official who said that the Al-Buraq Wall is part of Israel – Abu Rudeina: We will not agree to any change of the borders of occupied East Jerusalem”
“Official [PA] Presidential Office Spokesman [and Fatah Central Committee member] Nabil Abu Rudeina said that ‘We will not agree to any change of the borders of East Jerusalem, which was occupied in 1967.’
This was said in response to the statements of a senior American official in the While House who said that the US views the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount), which the Jews call ‘the Wailing Wall,’ as part of the State of Israel. Abu Rudeina said: ‘This American position again confirms that the present American administration is completely outside of the peace process.’”

On Dec. 15, 2017, a senior official in US President Donald Trump’s administration stated “We cannot envision any situation under which the Western Wall would not be part of Israel.” The official also said “But as the president said [in his speech on Jerusalem], the specific boundaries of sovereignty of Israel are going to be part of the final status agreement,” which is i gnored here.
