PA daily op-ed rewrites history, denies that all players on "Palestinian" team in 1934 World Cup were Jews and honors Palestinian terrorists

Bader Maki writes in an op-ed in the sports pages: “We [the Palestinians] participated in the qualification stage for the 1934 World Cup, held in Italy, and played against sister Egypt… The truth must be told. Some of the Palestinian players against Egypt were Jews. The reason for this was that the Jews who lived [here] at that time were Palestinians to the bone, because the [Israeli] state entity had not yet been born. They lived among us like the Muslims and Christians who were Palestinians like them. The Hebrew entity attempted to falsify history, saying that it was the Israeli team which participated in the 1934 qualifying rounds. It became clear to everyone, as well as to FIFA, that the purpose of these attempts was to erase our people’s history, to delete it and obliterate it from historical records. Since the beginning of the Jewish immigration to Palestine and the establishment of the first colony in 1882, they have attempted to claim that this is a country without a people, and therefore they carried out acts of expulsion of our people, by means of dozens of acts of massacre, and at the same time encouraged Jews in Europe to emigrate to Palestine, in various ways...

Today we recall the memory of our pure Shahids (Martyrs), who paved the way for our people’s freedom, first among them Yasser Arafat; Sheikh Ahmed Yassin; Fathi Shekaki; Amr Al-Qassem; Abu Ali Mustafa; [Che] Guevara of Gaza [Muhammad Al-Aswad]; Dalal Mughrabi; Abu Iyad; Abu Jihad; Lena Al-Nablusi; Iman Hijjo; Faisal Al-Husseini; Al Abu Touq; and the Shahids of the eternal Land Day in the Interior (i.e., Israel).”

Note: The composition of the Palestine-Eretz Yisrael team that played against Egypt in 1934, in Cairo, was completely Jewish: players were Berger, Resnick, Fiedler, Friedman, Fuchs, Sukenik, Harlap, Kraus, Kestenbaum, Reich, Nudelman. At that game what would eventually become Israel’s ‘Hatikva’ was played and what would eventually become the Israeli flag was hoisted. At the rematch, which was held in Tel Aviv and not Jerusalem, as the writer claims, the composition of the team was once again completely Jewish. It is possible that a couple of Arab players were on the team, but they did not participate in either game.

The
Shahids listed in the article include:
Sheikh Ahmed Yassin - founder of the Hamas terror movement.
Fathi Shaqaqi - founded the Islamic Jihad organization, which has carried out about 1,000 terrorist attacks, killing about 150 people and injuring approximately 950.
Abu Ali Mustafa - General Secretary of the terror organization “Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine” (PLFP). Planned numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians during the Palestinian terror campaign (the “Intifada”).
Dalal Mughrabi - led the most lethal terror attack in Israel's history in 1978, when she and other terrorists hijacked a bus and killed 37 civilians, 12 of them children.
Abu Iyad - a founder of Fatah and Head of the “Black September" terror group. Attacks he planned included the murder of two American diplomats, as well as the murder of 11 Israeli athletes in the Munich Olympics in 1972.
