PA official: EU will continue to pay PA workers in Gaza for not working

Headline: “Al-Qawasmi: The European Union has not stopped paying the salaries of PA employees in Gaza”

“Fatah Revolutionary Council member [and Fatah spokesperson] Osama Al-Qawasmi denied what was reported in the local and international media about the European Union’s intention to stop the budget that it allocates for PA employees in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Qawasmi said in an interview with the [independent Arab] newspaper Al-Wast that what was reported in a number of media outlets is purely idle talk and baseless rumors, and he noted that the relations between the PA and the EU are tight and continuous.
He noted that there are attempts to harm the PA and the Fatah Movement lately in order to create disorder in the Palestinian arena, and to harm the positive atmosphere reigning since the Seventh Fatah Conference. He also noted that the PA is not interested in rumors of this sort that have been heard in various forms recently, and their source apparently is Israeli.
The Chinese news agency Xinhua previously quoted Communication and Information Officer at the European [Union] Commission in Jerusalem [Shadi Othman], who said: ‘The European Union will stop sending the money with which it aids the PA, and which it pays to its employees in Gaza. This sum of money, which is estimated at 30 million euros a month, will be transferred instead to the Gaza Strip to support poor families and additional economic projects.’”
