PA, PLO officials praise UN vote against recognizing Hamas as a terror organization: A “rejection of the methods of hegemony, arrogance, and assistance to the occupation that the American administration is carrying out in order to falsify the facts”

PLO Executive Committee member [and Head of the PLO Department of Diplomacy and Public Policy] Dr. Hanan Ashrawi welcomed the UN General Assembly vote against the American resolution that condemns Hamas.
She said in a statement yesterday, Friday [Dec. 7, 2018]: 'On behalf of the Palestinian people and its leadership, I express our great thanks and appreciation to the members of the UN General Assembly that stood by justice and truth and voted to prevent the passing of this proposal, which targeted the members of our people, the Palestinian national movement, and the Palestinian national struggle.' …
The [PA] national unity government welcomed the results of the vote at the UN General Assembly, which showed the world's bias in favor of the Palestinian right, and the rejection of the methods of hegemony, arrogance, and assistance to the occupation that the American administration is carrying out in order to falsify the facts at the global level.
Official [PA] Government Spokesman Yusuf Al-Mahmoud said yesterday, Friday: 'The American administration’s failure to pass the proposed resolution that blames the Palestinian side, [and] exonerates the occupation and encourages it to commit more crimes against the members of our people, proves once again the power of the Palestinian right, the extent of the might of Palestinian diplomacy, and the success of the leadership, led by [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas, at the global level.' …
Supreme Shari’ah Judge of Palestine, President [Abbas’] advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, [and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice] Dr. Mahmoud Al-Habbash emphasized that today the Palestinian people once again defeated the American administration and Israel in the corridors of the UN when the members of the international organization rejected the American proposed resolution that was submitted to condemn Hamas.
Al-Habbash said in a tweet from his Twitter account: 'We have defended our people, and the Arabs, Muslims, and many states stood by us, and we thwarted the American proposed resolution to condemn Hamas.'"

UN Resolution condemning Hamas - The US proposed a resolution to condemn the terror organization Hamas for firing rockets into Israel and inciting violence, and demanding that it and other terrorist groups such as Islamic Jihad cease their terror activities, including the use of airborne incendiaries. The proposal was voted on by the UN General Assembly on Dec. 6, 2018. Although it received a majority of the votes, the proposal did not receive the two thirds needed to be ratified.
