PLO senior official: Israel wants to “get rid” of Abbas, just as they did Arafat

“Member of PLO Executive Committee, Saeb Erekat said: ‘Israel intends to get rid of President Mahmoud Abbas, as was the case with President Martyr (Shahid) Yasser Arafat, for sticking to his principles. This is proven by handwritten letters from Minister of Foreign Affairs, Avigdor Lieberman.
In an interview to Mawtini Radio, Erekat said: ‘Every Palestinian who adheres to East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine within the 1967 borders, to the return of the refugees and to the release of the prisoners – Israel does not see him as a partner, [believes that he] does not want peace and thinks that he must be gotten rid of by any means possible.’ He emphasized that there is concrete proof, among it, letters written in Lieberman’s handwriting.”
