Fatah: Israel’s goal is to “build the alleged Temple over the ruins of Al-Aqsa Mosque," which is “subjected to intentional Judaization measures”

“[Fatah spokesman Osama] Al-Qawasmi said that the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its plazas have been subjected to intentional Judaization measures for decades, and that [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s extreme right-wing government is seeking to divide it physically and according to time, as at the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs) in Hebron. This government carries out all forms of organized terrorism against the holy places, the Palestinian people in general and our residents of occupied Jerusalem in particular, with the aim of obliterating the Holy City’s Arab, Muslim and Christian character and building the alleged Temple over the ruins of Al-Aqsa.”

Note: The physical division and division according to time refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to implement separate prayer times for Muslims and Jews at the site.
