“The [PA] Ministry of Religious Affairs warned of an intensification in the Israeli violations and operations that are taking place in the holy city (i.e., Jerusalem) and in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza, the last of which was a series of secret excavations that the occupation authorities (i.e., Israel) are conducting around and underneath the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza, as they have prevented all legal or media sources from getting involved in this matter and closed the entire targeted region to everyone... The ministry emphasized that the main goal behind this blatant Jewish project is to erase the characteristics of Jerusalem and to topple the Al-Aqsa Mosque and destroy it, so that the Israeli enemy will be able to assert before the entire world that the Al-Aqsa Mosque toppled on its own without any action [being taken], and in this way acquit itself of its despicable crime.”
