Official PA daily perpetuates libel that Israel was complicit in 1969 arson attack on Al-Aqsa

Headline: “47 years since the Al-Aqsa Mosque arson”
“On Aug. 21, 1969, Michael Rohan pretended to be a tourist and entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque from Bab Al-Ghawanmeh, which is [a gate] in the western wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque [plaza] (i.e., the Temple Mount), after the worshippers held the dawn prayer and left, at 6:30 a.m. to be precise. He took advantage of the fact that the mosque was empty of worshippers at that early hour … and set Saladin Al-Ayyubi’s historic pulpit on fire…
In a performance that was planned in advance, according to analysts, the occupation police arrested Michael Rohan and brought him to trial. The court ruled that he was psychologically unfit [to stand trial] and transferred him to a psychiatric hospital in order to allow him to evade punishment. Five years after the incident, he was transferred to his homeland of Australia, and he died there in 1995 without showing any signs of the psychological disturbance that the occupation government claimed he had.”

Michael Rohan - deranged Australian Christian who set fire to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in 1969. For years, the Palestinian Authority has falsely accused Israel of setting the fire.
