Abbas: Release of prisoners is a priority

"[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday evening [Oct. 21, 2016] received a delegation of released prisoners at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, in the presence of Director of the [PLO] Commission for Prisoners and Released Prisoners' Affairs Issa Karake. The president emphasized that the cause of the prisoners and their release from the occupation's prisons constitutes a priority for the leadership so that they will be able to contribute to the independence of their homeland and its construction.
The president noted that the great struggle carried out by the prisoners for their people and its just cause constitutes a central source of support for the resolve of the Palestinian people before the occupation, whose fate is undoubtedly to be defeated, while we will establish our independent state whose capital is East Jerusalem."
