Abbas sends congratulatory telegram to Kim Jong-un

“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas sent a congratulatory telegram to Marshal Kim Jong-un, First Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, First Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, on the anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Workers’ Party, which took place yesterday [Oct. 10, 2014].
In his telegram, President [Abbas] expressed hope that by this time next year, the fraternal Korean nation will have realized its goals and expectations for progress and prosperity. In addition, the President praised the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea for its support of the Palestinian people, and for its support, in all [international] forums, of our people’s firm right to end the occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital - a state that lives in security and peace and [maintains] good relations with all its neighbors. In addition, he expressed hope that the historic relations of solidarity between Palestine and the Democratic People’s [Republic of] Korea, as well as between their two peoples, would continue to grow and develop.”
