Abbas' advisor: Israeli citizenship was “imposed” on Israeli Arabs “as a tax”‎

‎“Nimer Hammad, political advisor to PA ‎Chairman Mahmoud Abbas… ‎emphasized that the meetings being held ‎‎[between representatives from Arab ‎countries and Palestinians] – whether in ‎the West Bank or with our people in the ‎‎1948 territories (i.e., Israel) – especially in ‎Nazareth and Baka – are ultimately ‎intended to strengthen this bond, and to ‎correct the erroneous approach taken for ‎many years in an attempt to conceal [the ‎identity of] those of our people who had ‎stayed on their land and hold Israeli ‎citizenship, which was imposed on them ‎as a tax for their adherence to their land.”‎
