Abbas issues decree changing the board of WAFA, the official PA news agency
“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas published a decree on changing the makeup of the directorial council of the Palestinian news agency WAFA, which is headed by Ali Hussein. The decree reads as follows:
‘Decree No. () for the year 2014
The President of the State of Palestine
The Chairman of the PLO Executive Committee
After examining the sections of the PLO constitution, the amended sections from 2003 and its amendments, and Presidential Decree No. 6 for 2011 regarding the regulation of the activity of the Palestinian news agency WAFA; on the basis of the authority that has been entrusted to me, and out of a will to realize the public interest, I have decided as follows:
Section 1: The following changes are to be made to the makeup of the directorial council of the WAFA news agency…
Section 2:
Cancellation of anything contradicting the sections of this decree.
Section 3:
It is incumbent upon all relevant parties, each in his own area, to implement the sections of this decree and act accordingly, from the date of its publication.
