Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake speaks at length about the difficulty in paying the fines and damages levied by the Israeli courts against terrorists and their families. Karake also says that the PA government has been forced to stop paying the fines due to the financial pressures on it to pay not only the fines but compensation as well.
Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake: “In other words, if I want to go and hit an [Israeli] soldier and I injure him, I [have to] go and pay him damages? He is an occupier. He comes to murder me-”
Official PA TV host: “The message has been conveyed, Abu Khaled (i.e., Karake). The program’s time is up.”
Issa Karake: “He comes to murder me. In other words, they want to define the Palestinian struggle as a crime, as if [the fact] that we are struggling and defending ourselves and our honor has become a crime.”
