PA Minister: Abbas views release of veteran prisoners as precondition for peace

"Minister of Prisoners' Affairs, Issa Karake, yesterday visited families of veteran prisoners in the Aida and Deheisheh refugee camps, and in the town of Al-Khader, marking the Eid El-Fitr holiday. The Minister of Prisoners' Affairs said, on this occasion: 'President Abbas views the release of the prisoners arrested prior to the establishment of the Palestinian Authority in 1994, as the basis for any future meeting with the Israeli side. He opposed the Israeli haggling and blackmail in this regard, insisting on the release of all veteran prisoners, without discrimination and with no exception."
