Abbas: “Islamic, Christian and Jewish holy places are all equally holy in our eyes”

“The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, said today, Tuesday, that our nation does not know the meaning of [the word] ‘impossible,’ and would continue to defend its legitimate rights. In a phone interview on the world’s longest radio program, which was inaugurated by the [Palestinian] ‘Raya FM’ radio station, and lasts 50 consecutive hours, with the aim of entering the Guinness Book of World Records, his excellency added: ‘Today, our nation is bravely standing [firm] to protect and defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque.’
He said, ‘We do not wish to harm anyone, and do not wish anything bad to happen to anyone, but at the same time, we do not want anyone to harm our people and our holy places. The Islamic, Christian and Jewish holy places are all equally holy in our eyes, and therefore, we will not allow anyone to harm them.’
The President greeted our resolute nation in Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, which held out for 50 days in the face of Israeli aggression, and sacrificed 2,200 Martyrs (Shahids) and over 10,000 wounded in a battle which will go down in history. He expressed hope that the grief afflicting our people since 1948 would end, and said: ‘We desire this grief to end, through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, which will live in security and peace alongside the State of Israel. This is our message to the Israeli people and to the world.’”
