     “[PA] President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas sent a telegram to German President Joachim Gauck and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in which he expressed condolences over the victims of the terrorist car ramming incident that took place in a market in Berlin and claimed dozens of civilian victims and wounded (a terrorist of Tunisian origin who had pledged allegiance to ISIS ran a truck into a Christmas market in Berlin on Dec. 19, 2016, murdering 12 people and injuring 48. He was killed in a shootout with police in Italy on Dec. 23, 2016 –Ed.). The president emphasized… his condemnation of this despicable crime and his complete opposition to violence and all types of terror. He emphasized that it is necessary to consolidate all of the efforts to fight it (i.e., terror), and to take the necessary steps to prevent a continuation of the violence, aggression, and terror… His Honor emphasized his complete solidarity with Germany against this dark terror.”
