PFLP claims Abbas stopped funding them because PFLP had criticized Abbas
Headline: “A Ma’an report: The president terminated [the payment of] the budgeting of the PFLP”
“The Ma’an News agency was informed that [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas has terminated the budgeting of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) following the demand of some of the Front’s leaders for Mahmoud Abbas’ resignation.
Regarding the termination of the budgeting, PFLP leadership member Kayed Al-Ghoul stated yesterday morning, Monday [April 10, 2016], that President Abbas has stopped budgeting of the PFLP for February and March.
Al-Ghoul added in an interview with a Ma’an reporter: ‘We believe that the reason for this decision is the fact that the Front has presented views that conflict with the president’s policy, the security coordination [with Israel], and everything that concerns the implementation of the [PLO] Central Council’s decisions.’
Al-Ghoul continued: ‘The policy of terminating the budgeting is nothing new, and it repeats itself whenever a political conflict appears, and it is one of the means used by President Abbas to punish the Front.”
The PFLP has planned and carried out numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians since its founding in 1967 and throughout the Palestinian terror campaign between 2000- 2005 (the Intifada).
