Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs: Campaign to give Nobel Peace Prize to Marwan Barghouti is attempt to show that imprisoned Palestinian terrorists are not “terrorists and criminals”
Official PA TV News on the launch of the campaign in support of Marwan Barghouti’s candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize
Official PA TV reporter: "The [PLO] Commission of Prisoners and Released Prisoners' Affair, together with local and international institutions, has launched a campaign to enlist support for the candidacy of [PA] Parliament Member Marwan Barghouti, who is languishing in the occupation's prison, for the Nobel Peace Prize."
Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake: "This is support of the presentation of his candidacy, initiated by the Argentinian international activist [Adolfo Perez] Esquivel, who has submitted the candidacy of Marwan Barghouti for the Nobel Peace Prize. We, the Palestinian people, support this initiative, and we think this initiative carries several messages. A humanitarian message, meant to focus attention on the issue of the Palestinian prisoners in the occupation's prisons, and Israel's treatment of them. Likewise, a judicial message, which is a response to the Israeli claims accusing the prisoners of being terrorists and criminals."
