Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs: If Hamas kidnapped Israeli soldiers, the Commission would be willing to cooperate with Hamas

“On the eve of Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, the number of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation’s prisons has reached 7,000, including 70 women and more than 400 children… Regarding Hamas’ announcement, according to which it has captured 5 Israeli soldiers, and in response to the question as to whether [prisoner] exchange deals are expected in the near future, [Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa] Karake said that the commission is willing to cooperate with the [Hamas] movement in order to close a [prisoner] exchange deal, if it is true that the Israeli soldiers were captured. He added: ‘Activity in this framework will assist the release of thousands of prisoners, and we are ready to save the prisoners who were given heavy prison sentences, and all of the sick prisoners and the political leaders, in every future [prisoner] exchange deal.”
