“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas received a number of activists from the first Intifada (i.e., Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, 1987-1993) yesterday [May 2, 2016], in the presence of Secretary-General of the Presidential Office Tayeb Abd Al-Rahim and a number of the president’s advisors.
The president emphasized the importance of the blessed Intifada, which was a milestone and a strategic turning point in our Palestinian people’s course, and an important phase in the history of its national struggle. He added that the first Intifada is what enabled us to establish and build the Palestinian National Authority on our land. Likewise, he expressed his pride, and our people’s pride, in the supreme value of the first Intifada and our people’s struggles and suffering which reinforced its creative image in the world and drew international sympathy for our rights.”
