Jerusalem governor: Palestinians will "hold onto its holy sites… no matter what the sacrifices"
Headline: “Al-Husseini: The occupation’s steps complicate the lives of Jerusalem’s citizens and its visitors”
“Governor of Jerusalem District and Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Adnan Al-Husseini emphasized that the steps being carried out by the occupation authorities are complicating the lives of Jerusalem’s [Arab] citizens and its visitors in the month of Ramadan…
He emphasized that the Palestinian people will continue its struggle, and especially the residents of Jerusalem who have withstood the many barbaric acts carried out by the gangs of settlers and the occupation army. Likewise, he emphasized that the Palestinian people will continue to hold onto its holy sites, and will not concede them, no matter what the sacrifices.”
Note: The words "no matter the sacrifices" seem to be an implicit reference to the use of violence. The Jerusalem governor made the above statement during the 2015-2016 terror wave, at a time when the PA was repeatedly claiming that the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. These alleged threats to Al-Aqsa Mosque were a major impetus for the terror wave.
In October 2014, just prior to the outbreak of Palestinian riots and violence in Jerusalem, Abbas made a similar statement saying that Jewish presence at the Al-Aqsa Mosque must be prevented "in any way." [Official PA TV, Oct. 17-19, 2014].
