Headline: “Zumlut: The Israeli lobby is behind the deterioration of the situation in Palestine”
“Advisor to [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas] for Strategic Affairs Husam Zumlut held the extremist Israeli lobby in Washington responsible for the deterioration of the situation in the Palestinian territories by encouraging the occupation, the policy of colonialism, and the creation of [a cover of] defense for the occupation soldiers and settlers to carry out many types of violence and organized terror against our people.
During the speech he gave before American Congress members in Washington in response to the invitation of the Congress’ Foreign Relations Committee, Zumlut emphasized that ‘The extremist Israeli lobby is involved in methodical forgery of the facts and carrying out political blackmail as part of a pre-planned agenda, whose goal is to thwart the opportunities for peace and fight the regional and international elements striving to achieve it.
His participation was in order to explain the aspects of the Palestinian position at the height of the international incitement campaign being orchestrated by the Israeli lobby against the Palestinian leadership, under the pretext of [Palestinian] funding of terror and encouragement of violence, in order to stop the aid to the Palestinian government…
As part of his response to a question about Congress’ proposed resolution calling for the cessation of financial aid to the Palestinian government due to the government’s payments to the families of Martyrs (Shahids) and prisoners, Zumlut said: ‘This is a Palestinian law, in force since the establishment of the PA, and it is a law that applies to everyone detained by Israel without exception or choice.’ Likewise, he emphasized: ‘This is the right of the families of the Martyrs and the prisoners, and the obligation of the Palestinian government to provide a security plan that will provide a dignified life in the absence of the breadwinner.’
He emphasized the resolve of the president [Abbas] who supports the rights of the families of the Martyrs and the prisoners and his absolute refusal to be blackmailed by the extremist pressure groups in Washington.”
