PA Minister of Religious Affairs: “The Al-Aqsa Mosque is a completely Islamic site, a Muslim waqf, and no one shares their right to it.”
Headline: "Ida'is: The Al-Aqsa Mosque is at the heart of the Palestinian and Jordanian leaderships' interest"
"[PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Sheikh Yusuf Ida’is emphasized that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is a completely Islamic site, a Muslim waqf (i.e., an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law), and no one shares their right to it.
Ida'is said that this standpoint regarding the Al-Aqsa Mosque is the standpoint of the Palestinian and Jordanian political leaderships…
During his meeting yesterday [Aug. 16, 2016] with the Imams, preachers, and muezzins (i.e., the people who sound the Muslim call to prayer) of the Jericho and Jordan Valley district mosques, in the village of Nu'eima in the presence of the Director of the Jericho Waqfs Sheikh Muayyad Al-Helo and Director of Investments in the Sheik's office Mahmoud Hamad, Ida'is emphasized that the ministry is taking care to support the mosques and their employees, to appoint capable and talented Imams and preachers… and to prevent incapable preachers from approaching the pulpit and teaching religious matters.
Ida'is said: ‘On the shoulders of the Imams and preachers is the large task of raising the morale, pushing away despair, and strengthening the resolve of the citizens, especially in these difficult times our people is going through, in addition to their calls to maintain the people's unity and its cohesion, and to battle any sign of separation or rupture.'"
