“The [PA’s] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places yesterday [Aug. 18, 2016] warned in an announcement against an extensive Judaization scheme named ‘The Faces of Jerusalem – the Modern City’ (sic., the “Gate of the Capital ” project developing the western entrance to Jerusalem), which is directed against the main entrance to Jerusalem from its western side. The council said in its announcement that the scheme constitutes a continuation of the large Israeli goal to Judaize Jerusalem with all that is in it, erase its Arab, Islamic, and Christian characteristics, distort its ancient history, and fill the city with purely Jewish characteristics that have no connection to Jerusalem and its Arabness.”
