Abbas’ advisor: Trump is “completely ignorant on everything regarding the Palestinian issue, and he does not understand a thing about America’s policies”
Interview with PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Advisor on Strategic Affairs Dr. Husam Zomlot
“[Question:] What is your opinion on US presidential candidate Donald Trump’s promise to Israeli Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu that he will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel if he is elected?”
[Answer:] Trump does not have a right to make any promise on this matter, and as far as we are concerned this is empty talk, and it is clear that he is completely ignorant on everything regarding the Palestinian issue, and he does not understand a thing about America’s policies or even international law. He will soon discover that he is promising things that he cannot implement, and we promise him that he will fail in implementing them. Of course his words are unacceptable and irresponsible, and point to extortion, weakness, and an unbalanced personality that does not understand the world, its arrangement, and its laws. This is a candidate lacking political knowledge and experience, as a decision like this does not only belong to the US president alone, but rather requires an international decision and is connected to rights and to previous agreements.”
