“In an initial response from a senior leadership official in Fatah to the news items that were reported about the [PA] Ministry of Finance having stopped the salaries of dozens of employees in the [PA] Security Forces [in the Gaza Strip] claiming that they support leadership member and [PA] Parliament member Muhammad Dahlan (i.e., former leader who was expelled from Fatah), Fatah Central Committee member [and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations] Abbas Zaki called on [PA] President [Mahmoud] Abbas to reinstate the salaries of those whose salaries were recently cancelled, and likewise to reinstate all of the cancelled salaries…
Palestinian sources noted this evening [Nov. 2, 2016] that the PA until now has stopped the salaries of dozens of PA employees claiming that they support Parliament Member Muhammad Dahlan…
The sources said that as a first stage the salaries were stopped for dozens of Dahlan’s supporters, who were surprised that their salaries did not appear in the bank. In the coming months the salaries of additional [Dahlan] supporters will be stopped gradually, and the final list includes 2,000 PA employees, according to the claim of these sources.”
