Arab member of Israeli Parliament urges Arabs not to honor Israeli law if passed
Official PA radio station The Voice of Palestine program A New Day, interview with Israeli Arab Parliament member Ahmad Tibi on the Muezzin Law
Israeli Arab Parliament member Ahmad Tibi: “If this law (i.e., the Muezzin Law) is legislated it must not be honored and the call to prayer must be sounded everywhere, and we will not agree to [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s government silencing the mosques. That is our position, and that is the position of the people.”
On Nov. 13, 2016, a bill to ban religious institutions from broadcasting over loudspeakers was approved for a preliminary reading in the Israeli Parliament. The bill is intended to prevent noise pollution. This bill is referred to by many as the “Muezzin Law,” although it does not refer to any specific religion.
