PA official: "Palestine is the cradle of the three monotheistic religions – Islam, Christianity, and Judaism... Religious tolerance is a human requirement"
Headline: “The Palestinian people believes in religious and political co-existence and upholds it in theory and in practice”
“Secretary-General of the [PA] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places Dr. Hanna Issa said: ‘… We, as a Palestinian people, believe in religious and political coexistence and uphold it in theory and in practice. Our ancient and modern history constitutes proof of this in light of our unique situation that the land of Palestine is the cradle of the three monotheistic religions – Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, and the fact that our Palestinian people, Muslims and Christians alike, constitutes an inseparable part of the Arab nation, and its land is part of the greater Arab homeland.’
He emphasized: ‘Religious tolerance is a human requirement, which all of the religions, without exception, call for… and the Jewish religion [also] calls for tolerance, as is written in the Bible (sic., Talmud): ‘What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor.’”
