Sultan Abu Al-Einein no longer in Fatah Central Committee, Israeli pressure might be partially responsible
On May 2, 2013, PMW reported that Abbas advisor Sultan Abu Al-Einein glorified a murderer for killing an Israeli father of five. In response, five members of US Congress wrote a letter to Abbas demanding Abu Al-Einein be removed from office. Despite the letter, Abu Al-Einein was not removed from office at the time. On July 15, 2016, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Abbas to fire Abu Al-Einein, citing PMW's documentation that Abu Al-Einein had said in an interview, "Every place you find an Israeli - slit his throat." In the Fatah Central Committee elections held during the Seventh Fatah Conference in early December 2016, Sultan Abu Al-Einein lost his position as a Fatah Central Committee member. However, he remains a close advisor to Mahmoud Abbas.

“Coordinator of Israeli Government Activities in the Occupied (sic.) Territories [Maj. Gen.] Yoav ‘Poly’ Mordechai denied his intervention in the decisions of [PA] President [Mahmoud] Abbas regarding the Palestinian situation in general.
Mordechai said in statements that ‘He does not intervene in the internal decisions of Mahmoud Abbas...’
He added that communication and coordination are the basis of the relations with the Palestinian side, and not intervention in the internal affairs in general, and the PA’s policy in particular.
The Israeli i24 [news] website quoted Mordechai saying that the Palestinian president ‘consented to our demands to distance our enemy from the Fatah Central Committee,’ and erased the news item two hours after its publication (after Mordechai denied the statements attributed to him –Ed .).
According to the website, Mordechai expressed his satisfaction after ‘Abbas consented to Israel’s demand to distance [Advisor to PA Chairman Abbas on NGOs] Sultan Abu Al-Einein from the Fatah Central Committee.’ According to him, ‘Mahmoud Abbas finally succeeded in distancing the terrorist Sultan Abu Al-Einein from the Fatah Central Committee.’
The coordinator of Israeli government [activities] said: ‘We asked Abbas to get rid of Abu Al-Einein after he incited the stabbing of Israelis more than once,’ and referred to Israel’s effort ‘to expel Abu Al-Einein from the West Bank once and for all.’”
