“Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake denied the reports of several media outlets about a cutback in the allowances of the prisoners’ families. He emphasized that this news item is completely unfounded, and that the PA and the Palestinian leadership continue to support the families of the Martyrs (Shahids) and the prisoners, to provide for them, and to express loyalty to them in accordance with the customary regulations and laws.
Karake said that [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas, in his historic speech before the Seventh Fatah Conference, emphasized the continuation of the support for the prisoners’ families, for the prisoners in prison, and for the released prisoners, and continuation of the efforts to release the prisoners.”
