Headline: "Several members of the Martyrs' families broke into the Families of the Martyrs and Wounded Institution in Gaza"
"Several members of the Martyrs' (Shahids') families broke into the [PLO] Families of the Martyrs and Wounded Institution in the Gaza Strip today (Tuesday) [Dec. 13, 2016] for several hours. They left after they received promises that their salaries (rawatib) will be paid next May [2017].
Spokesman for the Martyrs' families Alaa Al-Barawi told [the independent Palestinian news agency] Ma'an that approximately 700 families of Martyrs broke in to the institution, where Director of the [Families of the Martyrs and Wounded] Institution Intisar Al-Wazir was, and demanded that the salaries of the families of the Martyrs of the 2014 [Gaza] war - 1,943 families - be paid. Al-Barawi blamed Director of the Institution Intisar Al-Wazir for what he defined as procrastination in solving the problem of the salaries of the Martyrs' families. He emphasized that she bears the full responsibility for the non-payment of their financial allowances (mukhassasat)… It should be noted that the members of the Martyrs' families are holding a sit-in strike every Tuesday in front of the offices of the Families of the Martyrs and Wounded Institution, in order to press for a solution to their problem which has been pending for several years. Members of the Martyr's families emphasize that [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas] decided to recognize them [as members of Martyrs' families], while the institution is procrastinating in the implementation of the decision."
