“The [PA] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places said today, Wednesday [Dec. 28, 2016], that the fact that the Israeli occupation authorities have opened a new tunnel in the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood of
the village of Silwan (sic., neighborhood in Jerusalem), south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, ‘constitutes a completion of the extremist Israeli plot surrounding the blessed mosque, whose goal is to establish the alleged Temple on its ruins.”
On Dec. 27, 2016, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism unveiled the “Pilgrims’ Path,” an ancient road leading under the main road of the Silwan neighborhood of Jerusalem that was excavated by the Ir David Foundation and the Israel Antiquities Authority. The “Pilgrims’ Path” was the main road of Jerusalem during the late Second Temple Period, approximately 2,000 years ago, and led from the Siloam Pool to the Temple Mount.
