Hebron Directorate of Religion: Cave of the Patriarchs “will remain an Islamic site despite all of the occupation’s attempts to change it”
Headline: “The Directorate of Religion continues the Ribat activities at the Ibrahimi Mosque”
“The Hebron Directorate of Religion (i.e., branch of the PA Ministry of Religious Affairs) continued the procession of loyalty to the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs)… with a large official and popular presence that illustrated the meaning of Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic), and reemphasized their devotion to the purely Islamic Ibrahimi Mosque… Director-General of the Hebron [Directorate of] Religion Ismail Abu Al-Halawa emphasized that the mosque will remain an Islamic site despite all of the occupation’s attempts to change it. He also called on the institutions and the sons of the district to increase their visits to the Ibrahimi Mosque in order to defend its Islamicness, Arabness, and Palestinianess, and in this way he sent a message to the occupation that we are staying here and that this place is a symbol of our existence and our history.”
