PLO official claims in official PA daily: There are "210 Martyrs who were murdered by torture and medical neglect"
Headline: “The prisoners are under attack”
Excerpt of an op-ed by Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake
“With the fall of Martyr (Shahid) injured prisoner Muhammad Al-Jalad (i.e., terrorist) on Feb. 8, 2017, the number of Martyr prisoners since 1967 rises to 210 Martyrs who were murdered by torture and medical neglect, and who were arbitrarily executed within the prison or during their arrest . The organized crime is repeating itself and intensifying in an unprecedented manner, to the point that in the past seven years 10 Martyrs have fallen within the occupation’s prisons – a record time that indicates that the prisons and the arbitrary actions against the prisoners have become a tool of death, with which prisoners are intentionally murdered…
The occupation government is still attempting to deprive the prisoners of their legal status and to delegitimize their national struggle against the occupation. It is deepening their treatment as criminals and terrorists on the legal, media, and political level in order to delegitimize them and the legitimate Palestinian national struggle.”
Muhammad Al-Jalad - Palestinian terrorist who attempted to stab an Israeli soldier with a screwdriver at Hawara checkpoint outside Nablus on Nov. 9, 2016. The screwdriver failed to penetrate the soldier’s flak jacket, and Al-Jalad was shot and wounded by other soldiers at the scene. Al-Jalad died of his wounds at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva in Israel in February 2017.
