“Fatah Revolutionary Council member and Secretary-General of the [PA] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places Hanna Issa said that the goal of the destruction and excavation activities that the occupation state authorities are conducting in the Old City [of Jerusalem] and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is to change the Islamic-Christian Arab character of the holy city and to create a Jewish character for it.
Issa said in an interview with Radio Mawtini today, Monday [Feb. 27, 2017]: ‘The excavation and destruction activities of the occupation authorities in the holy city and around and under the Al-Aqsa Mosque are part of a calculated plan that is meant to shake the foundations of the mosque, and to change the Islamic-Christian Arab character of the holy city and to create a Jewish character for it.’ He emphasized that the occupation government will fail to achieve its goals even though it is fighting against time to realize this goal.
Issa warned against the occupation government’s attempts to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque through its ongoing excavations in order to build its alleged Temple. He emphasized that it will not succeed in achieving what it wants, despite all of its attempts to impose its rule on the holy city.”
