Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki: "The situation is dangerous and instruments of religion are being used [to increase the danger]. [US public servant] Susan Rice said in 2005: 'We want an Islam that suits us.' [US public servant] Martin Indyk said in 2002: 'For Israel, we must change the conflict into a conflict between Sunnis and Shi'ites.' Now they have started to talk about Sunni and Shi’ite states. The time has come for us to develop an Arab-Persian dialogue and close this matter, so that we do not give Israel an excuse to talk about a Jewish state."
