Abbas tells President Trump rep he is "completely committed" to creating atmosphere for peace

"[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas met yesterday [March 14, 2017] in Ramallah with US President Donald Trump's Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt.
The two sides emphasized that the PA and the US are committed to advancing a true and permanent peace between Israel and the Palestinians. President Abbas said that he believes that it is possible to reach a historical peace with President Trump's leadership, which would strengthen the security throughout the region. He added that he expects to discuss the possibility of making peace directly with President Trump during his upcoming visit to Washington.
Greenblatt emphasized that Trump is committed to working with the Israelis and Palestinians in order to achieve a permanent peace through direct negotiations. He also emphasized that it is important that all sides act to reduce the tension and incitement.
