(The following is an excerpt of Abbas’ speech at the press conference –Ed.)

I again emphasize our support and our standing at your side in order to fight all of the forms of terror and its sources. We express to you our condolences over the victims of the terror operation that took place during the Christmas celebrations (a terrorist of Tunisian origin who had pledged allegiance to ISIS ran a truck into a Christmas market in Berlin on Dec. 19, 2016, murdering 12 people and injuring 48. He was killed in a shootout with police in Italy on Dec. 23, 2016 –Ed.). We support every regional and international effort to fight terror and uproot it, due to the danger that it constitutes to peace and stability in the region and in the world. We also emphasize [the need for] political solutions to conflicts in the region. We oppose military solutions and demand that all sides turn to a political solution.”
