Released terrorist murderer speaks at conference organized by PA Ministry of Culture

Karake said that the cultural and intellectual experience of the prisoners is one of the greatest human experiences in the world. He also said that the cultural, literary, and artistic products of the prisoners hold a high position in the literature of resistance, constitute an important part of the history of the Palestinian struggle, and are worthy of review, documentation, study, and publication at all levels and in all languages, until the world becomes aware of the prisoners’ suffering and their struggle to maintain their humanity, and also to expose the arbitrary steps taken against them through what they have written and documented within the prisons. Author and released prisoner Ismat Mansour (i.e., terrorist, murdered 1) reviewed his cultural experience within the prison. He published three literary works, including The Wire and The Prison, and revealed the human and fighter aspect of these stories through the everyday life in prison and displaying the broad interest of the prisoners in culture and their struggles to obtain pens and books and turn the prisons into schools and universities. Mansour said that the culture inside the prisons has shaped the personalities of the prisoners from a consciousness and fighter standpoint, and has played a large role in the prisoners' resolve. This conference was organized by the [PA] Ministry of Culture and took place at the headquarters of the popular committee in the Ein Al-Sultan refugee camp."
Ismat Mansour – assisted in the kidnapping and murder of Israeli civilian Haim Mizrahi (Oct. 23, 1993). He was serving 22 years in prison, but was released in October 2013 as one of 104 terrorists whom Israel agreed to release to fulfill the PA's precondition for renewing negotiations.
