PA official implies terror attacks in Egypt meant to cause instability to prevent support of the Palestinian cause

Headline: “Issa: The bombing of the two churches in Egypt is a war crime and our people stand by the side of the Egyptian people”
“Secretary-General of the [PA] Islamic-Christian Council for Jerusalem and the Holy Places and Fatah Movement Revolutionary Council member Dr. Hanna Issa said that the crime of bombing the churches in Cairo and Alexandria constitutes a war crime (see note below –Ed.)… Issa noted that there are countries that are attempting to create instability in the Arab axis countries, drag them into civil wars, and prevent Egypt from fulfilling its important Arab role in defending the Palestinian cause. Issa said that a global imperialistic axis has created these extremist organizations, and mentioned former American Secretary of State [Hillary] Clinton’s statement, according to which the best way to help Israel is to incite war inside Syria (see note below –Ed.). Issa also said that lately the terror is being escalated for the purpose of undermining the stability of the Palestinian issue , because its solution is the basis [for everything] in the Middle East. This was emphasized by the efforts of [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas in this direction, according to which the Palestinian cause is the center of the conflict in the Middle East, and the region will achieve a respite from all of the terror attacks only after a solution to the Palestinian issue .”

On Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017, two bombings took place north of Cairo at two separate Coptic Christian churches - St. George Church in Tanta, and Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Alexandria. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks, in which dozens were murdered and over 100 were wounded.

The reference to former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would seem to refer to a document from her email account that was exposed by WikiLeaks, which reads: “The best way to help Israel deal with Iran's growing nuclear capability is to help the people of Syria overthrow the regime of Bashar Assad.” The document goes on to argue that toppling Assad’s regime would hamper Iran’s strategic alliance with it, and thereby help protect Israel’s regional nuclear monopoly from Iran as it would allow the US and Israel to better coordinate in setting clearer red lines.
