Abbas rep attends marathon named after arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti

“Runner Mahmoud Abu Sbitan from the Khidamat Al-Shati club won first place in the Prisoner and Leadership Member Marwan Barghouti (i.e., terrorist who orchestrated three shooting attacks in which 5 were murdered) Marathon in the men’s group, while runner Ibrahim Al-Bawadi from Beit Lahiya won first place in the youth group. The marathon was organized by the Athletic Association (i.e., private organization) in partnership with the Prisoners and Released Prisoners’ Forum (i.e., private organization) and the Popular Campaign for the Release of Leadership Member Marwan Barghouti, and it began at the Jabaliya youth club. At the end of the marathon, Deputy Chairman of the [Athletic] Association Ramzi Al-Qarm honored [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas’ representative Salah Abu Wardeh and a number of national figures.”

When arrested by Israel in 2002, Barghouti headed the Tanzim (Fatah terror faction). After he was convicted and imprisoned, he was re-elected member of the Palestinian Authority parliament. On Dec. 4, 2016, he was elected to Fatah's Central Committee.
