“‛Sixty-nine years have passed since the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” the Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) and nothing has changed for us but our age and the longings which have increased. We long for the sun’s rays reflecting from the sea of Acre on its walls, and for the scent of the land.’ This is what 80-year-old Laila Jamal from occupied Acre said.”
