"Professor of History and Antiquities at Al-Quds University and Director of the Tourism and Antiquities Directorate of the [Jordanian] Endowment Department Dr. Yusuf Al-Natsheh said that the general goal of the Israeli archaeological excavations is to erase the Canaanite Arab cultural characteristics and the historical continuity of the Palestinian people from the past to the present, and to give this continuity to Israel.
During the speech he gave at “The City of Jerusalem After 50 Years of Israeli Occupation: Future Horizons Conference”… he added: ‘The goal of the archaeological excavations is to pave the way for the establishment of the Third 'Temple' in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to discover remains from the First or Second Temple and the continuation of the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., the Western Wall). Their goal is also to attempt to prove the history of the Bible and the events and texts included in it, and thus to prove Israel's right to Palestine and that they have returned to here and are not new immigrants and colonialists.’"
