PFLP condemns Fatah official’s statement regarding Jewish sovereignty at the Western Wall
Headline: “Al-Ghoul: We strongly condemn Rajoub’s statements and officially call on the Fatah Movement to publish a notice regarding his statements”
“Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Political Bureau member Kayed Al-Ghoul said this evening, Sunday (June 4, 2017), that the Popular Front strongly condemns Fatah Movement Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub’s statements regarding the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount).
During an interview with the [Lebanese] Al-Mayadeen [TV] channel, Al-Ghoul officially called on Fatah to publish a notice regarding Rajoub’s latest statements.
It should be noted that Rajoub said during an interview with the Hebrew [Israeli TV] Channel 2 that ‘The Al-Buraq Wall belongs to the Jews, and Zionist sovereignty will apply to it, while the Al-Aqsa Mosque belongs to the Palestinians (see Rajoub’s actual statement below –Ed.).’”
In his interview with Israeli TV Channel 2 on June 3, 2017, Fatah Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub said: “[US President Donald Trump] went to the Western Wall, and we understand that it is a holy site for the Jews, and in the end it must be under Jewish sovereignty - there is no argument over that.” The interview was filmed.
The Al-Buraq Wall Islam's Prophet Muhammad is said to have rode during his Night Journey from Mecca to "al aqsa mosque", i.e., "the farthest mosque" (Quran, Sura 17), and there tied his miraculous flying steed named Al-Buraq to a "stone" or a "rock." (Jami` at-Tirmidhi, Book 47, Hadith 3424). In the 1920's, Arab Mufti Haj Amin Al-Husseini decided to identify the Western Wall of the Temple in Jerusalem as that "rock" or "stone," and since then Muslims refer to the Western Wall as the "Al-Buraq Wall."
Jibril Rajoub also holds the following positions: Head of the PLO Supreme Council for Sport and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Palestinian Football Association, Chairman of the Palestine Olympic Committee, and Chairman of the Palestinian Scout Association (PSA).
