"Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake demanded that the [PA] Ministry of Finance publish an explanation regarding the reasons for stopping the payment of the salaries of more than 200 prisoners, some of them released [prisoners].
Karake said in a press statement that the Commission [of Prisoners' Affairs] has received many inquiries and complaints on the matter, without knowing what the reasons are that led to stopping the payment of the salaries, and also without an official response on the matter from any official party.
He added that [the Commission of Prisoners' Affairs], as a concerned party, was surprised by the step that was taken without its knowledge, and that many of the complaints it receives require an official explanation from the Ministry of Finance and the [PA] government regarding the reasons for this step."
