Palestinian from Lebanon: “The news that really makes us happy is when we hear about a Martyr… we are proud when we hear the names of the Martyrs”
Official PA TV program One Day We Will Return, on the Shatila refugee camp in Lebanon
Shatila refugee camp resident: “All of our days are full of bitterness, but I want to talk about the beautiful things, about the cohesion and the comradeship, and about how we still stick together. The news that really makes us happy is when we hear about a Martyr (Shahid). It is painful, but we are proud when we hear the names of the Martyrs.”
Sabra and Shatila - Sabra and Shatila are Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. In 1982, during the first Lebanon War, Muslim residents of the camps were massacred by Christian Phalangists. The PA has a longstanding policy of falsely accusing Israel of committing the massacre or actively helping to carry it out.
