Head of PA-funded Prisoners’ Club: PLO’s responsibility for prisoners never stops, nor will salaries
Headline: “Fares: Deducting the allowances of the prisoners, the families of the Martyrs, and the wounded from the tax money is robbery”
“Chairman of the [PA-funded] Prisoners’ Club Qadura Fares emphasized that the fact that the Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation yesterday [June 11, 2017] approved a bill (the bill was approved by the Ministerial Committee for Legislation under the Israeli government, but has not yet been passed by the Israeli Parliament –Ed.) to deduct the money that the PA pays as allowances for the prisoners, families of the Martyrs (Shahids), and wounded from the tax money that Israel collects for the PA is robbery and theft of Palestinian money. This is after [Israel] was unable in recent years to influence the donor countries by spreading [the claim] that this aid and money are used for ‘incitement and terror.’
He added that for the last five years, the occupation state has acted according to a systematic plan of incitement against the PA, in an attempt to stop the international grants and financial aid, but official Palestinian efforts have succeeded in obtaining positive results and blocking and thwarting this plan.
He added: ‘These attempts by Israel are part of the exerting of pressure to stain the Palestinian struggle with terror and insert it into what is called the war on terror, so that this trend (i.e., the war on terror) will also include the Palestinian prisoners who struggled for freedom.’
He emphasized that what Israel is attempting to do will not pass, because this legislation touches on Palestinian laws that are connected to the heritage of the PLO, which has borne and still bears responsibility for the families of the Martyrs and the prisoners since 1966, [a responsibility] which has never stopped and which will never stop.”
