PA daily cartoon: Israel depicted as an IS executioner

Cartoon presenting Israel as a masked Islamic State fighter about to cut off the head of a hostage. The executioner's mask is marked with the Star of David. He is holding a knife shaped as lightning, symbolizing electricity. This is a reference to Israel deciding in early June 2017 to cut off electricity to the Gaza Strip at the request of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, who sought to pressure Hamas by saying he will no longer pay for the Gaza Strip’s electricity.

This cartoon also appeared in the PA daily on Feb. 25, 2015, in reference to Israel cutting off electricity to two Palestinian towns for a limited time in order to pressure the PA to pay part of its billion shekel debt to Israel for electricity.
