PA chief negotiator Erekat falsely claims: Israel guilty of incitement and dedicating landmarks to ‘terrorists’, glorifies ‘Zionist terror’
Headline: "Erekat warned against cooperation with the Israeli narrative of incitement"
"Secretary of the PLO Executive Committee[, Fatah Central Committee member, and PLO Chief Negotiator] Saeb Erekat rejected the false accusations and claims that Israel is spreading regarding what it calls 'the official Palestinian incitement.'
Erekat emphasized in a statement this evening, Thursday [June 22, 2017], that the occupation government is working continuously to deflect attention and to find new and misleading excuses such as 'the claims of incitement' every time an opportunity is created to revive the political process, in contrast to the Palestinian leadership that is committed to the two-state solution and the full implementation of international law.
Erekat's response came in the wake of Israel’s ongoing attempts to call our people’s national struggle terror and to turn our fighter Martyrs (Shahids) and prisoners since the outbreak of the Palestinian revolution into criminals.
Erekat explained that the reason that Israel refuses to revive the tripartite committee that deals with incitement stems from the built-in policy of the right-wing government to incite and glorify Zionist terror. He said: 'One example of this is the fact that [Israeli] occupation Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu himself inaugurated a hospital last April that was named after [former Israeli Prime Minister] Yitzhak Shamir, the terrorist responsible for the killing of hundreds of civilians, including [his] issuing the orders to assassinate UN Peace Mediator Count Folke Bernadotte from Sweden, in addition to blowing up the King David Hotel [in Jerusalem], which led to the death of dozens of civilians (Shamir was a leader of the pre-state Jewish militia Lehi that assassinated Count Bernadotte –Ed.)."
