DFLP accuses Abbas of trying to take over the PLO and merge it with the PA

“The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) warned against [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas’ plans to take control of the PLO and merge it with the PA institutions.
The Front’s Political Bureau member Talal Abu Tharifa said in a statement to the Al-Risalah Net website of the Hamas Movement yesterday, Tuesday [July 4, 2017], that his Front strongly opposes all of the attempts to take control of the PLO and abolish the roles that have been assigned to it for many years, prime among them the issue of the ‘expatriates.’ He explained that the PA’s effort to change the Palestinian [PA] Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ name to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates is an unacceptable and illegal act, which contradicts the internal national consensus that considers the PLO as the sole legal representative of the Palestinians.”
